This is a Temporary Closure Notice for our Museum The City of Deerfield Beach and the Florida Dept. of Transportation (FDOT) have been in conference for a few years in the hope of upgrading the station. We have been fortunate to have a very open relationship with the City of Deerfield Beach and FDOT and they have graciously allowed us to be involved with the plans. This is a project that has long been in the planning stages and is now a realization, now the time has come. The station will be undergoing both an internal and external refurbishment over the next year and our museum will be closed during the interim. We are excited about the construction because it will bring the station up to current building standards, and therefore extend the longevity of the museum. Since the station was built in 1927 and is on the National Historic Register, many changes have been incorporated into the local and state building codes, not to mention the hurricane codes. The construction will encompass all of these upgrades and provide a safer and more energy efficient building. The closure timeframe began on August 1, 2009 and will extend toward the end of next year. We hope to see you again at our re-opening in 2010! |
