Board

Jack Mueller, Paul Mathis, Richard Lindquist. |
The new Board of Directors wishes to thank Bob Leonard, Bill Steffen and
Vic Zarzycki for their participation as a board member this past year. We
especially thank Bill Steffen for managing the finances of the organization
for these past years and ensuring that our books were kept straight.
The 2009-2010 board biographies are outlined below.
Mike Diaz, President
Mike moves up this year, a sucker for punishment obviously. Mike is now in
the top seat of the organization and will continue in his capacity to bark
orders and enforce regulations. We are assured that he will keep everyone on
the straight and narrow, up to date, on time and haberdashery pleasing.
Autocracy shall reach new heights; not that that is a bad thing, someone
needs to do it!
Richard Lindquist, Vice President
Richard has once again stepped into the fray and taken on the responsibility
of a board member. Richard was an officer a few years ago and therefore not
foreign to the abuse and mistreatment that can be tossed in his direction.
He is good balance to the board providing a regimented outlook on tasks that
need to be accomplished during his tenure.
Richard Bretone, Secretary / Director
Richard has moved from the un-official maintenance man for the organization
to the scribe, he can now while away the early morning hours annotating the
history of the organization. He has rough row to hoe as the secretary, it
isn't easy to write the sequence of a conversation when there are four
people voicing their opinion at the same time. Now he can provide his own
slant as to the rumors and information that comes the way of the museum.
Time will tell, stay tuned.
Jack Mueller, Treasurer
Jack is the only member who has truly been a part of railroad history and
luckily for us he has been a fixture around the organization for years. Jack
has been an un-official member for years, but he made it official upon his
retirement from AMTRAK. Even though he is retired he remains a liaison for
us, he still has connections! He will be filling a pair of big shoes, but he
has the task well in hand.
Paul Mathis, Director
Paul holds office as director for us and some sort of operations guru in the
Palm Beach club and also an officer for the National Railroad Historical
Society the local area chapter. He is a busy man, but all railroad related,
so he can't be all that bad. Anyway, Paul has been with us for awhile, he is
the un-official freight agent/dispatcher/operations manager for the
organization. He models in "HO" scale and takes pride in operating his
flawless rolling stock and decided to get involved in a broader arena.
Jan Muenzenmaier
Jan has been with our organization in one discipline or another since the
millennium started and we have been fortunate to have her. For yet another
year Jan is our link to the City of Deerfield Beach, our eyes and ear in
city politics. There are still rumors of her retirement, but we haven't seen
anything in writing.
As an organization we have, as all organizations, a group of people who act
within the group as leaders, workers, or social participants. Every group has
these categories of individuals; some organizations have more of a group or
less of a group, thus driving the success or failure of the organization.
With every organization, a larger percentage of work is accomplished by a
smaller percentage of people. The axiom is “100 % of the work is done by 10%
of the people.” Our group does not fall within those parameters. We have
more than enough people who have the drive to get the work accomplished and
for that we are lucky. Within our group those who are avid modelers, who
spend time building, painting, and operating our equipment; we also have
modeling leaders.
