Bill Muenzenmeir, Bill Steffen, and Mike Diaz |
The new Board of Directors wishes to thank Bob Leonard and Wilson Tanis for their participation as a board member this past year.
The 2007-2008 board biographies are outlined below.
Bill Muenzenmaier, President
Two years ago Bill stepped down from the helm of President and continued on as our Vice President; well he likes the top executive position. Once again he has taken the responsibility of moving the museum forward in the community. It was reported that Bill is always available for the “Road Trip”, well things got better, he retired. With the addition of a 30 + foot motor home he can now travel in style, although he has not asked any of us to travel with him. Actually, he cannot go anywhere until he finishes the “Garden” railroad in the backyard.
The On3 home layout, remains a work in progress!
Mike Diaz, Vice President
Mike has been around the hobby for a long time. He has been involved with “Round Robin” groups and came to the conclusion that he needed to add more confusion to his life and thus he ran for office. He still goes around in circles but not with the Robin group. We as an organization were deficient in some areas and he has provided guidelines for our “Best Foot Forward” to the community.
He has been involved with model railroading for many a year, a spin-off from his train travels as a youngster and young man, many years ago. Although he has been around for a long time, he is very focused on his modeling subjects. If it doesn’t come with a “Warbonnet” on the nose, or “Santa Fe” written on the side, or resembles a diesel, he doesn’t own it. Mike, a compulsive modeler is continually asking his wife to add more to his home layout (Florida basement) and she complies by creating quite the empire for him. He the mechanical and she the artistic, make quite the team.
Bill Steffen, Treasurer
Bill, remains as our treasurer, he has done an outstanding job at this position, the books remain straight and the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” axiom continues for yet another year. A long-standing member of the organization, Bill has taken a strong interest in our existence and our importance within the community. He maintains open communication with our community leaders and continues to re[present the museums best interests in our functions. He also continues to keep the masses on a straight and narrow path enforcing the purpose of the organization.
In addition to his money duties he has taken on the task of Southern Division Superintendent of the Sunshine Region of the NMRA, reporting the cultural and not so cultural events of South Florida NMRA members and their organizations.
Bill Dagostino, Director
Bill is a relatively new member to the organization, but he has made a very sage impression and offers his experiences to the group as guidelines. A native of New Jersey, he has lived in the area for awhile and decided that he needed, as did Mike, an outlet. Bill has been in the hobby since “Varney” was a household word, Bob Mohowski was a freshman modeler and historian and Koester was a junior editor. Bill remembers the Erie railroad when it ran commuter trains on schedule, had a diamond logo on the side of its motive power, and big noisy Berkshires.
Yet he doesn’t model Erie, instead the ACL/SAL is well depicted in his Florida basement layout of palm trees and southern landscape. Bill has a vast collection of motive power displaying ACL “purple”, SAL “Citrus”, even FEC yellow / orange, and there is Erie yellow / black and green.
As a director Bill has the task of maintaining a relationship with the governing officials responsible for the refurbishment of the museum. He also, because of his love of all things passenger, is the unofficial train dispatcher during future operating sessions.
Vic Zarzycki, Secretary / Director
Vic remains in this position because he has done such a wonderful job keeping us informed. Vic, can decipher the hot air, the vapid ramblings, the hollow information, old rumors, new rumor, and anything else in-between and provide us with concise minutes to our meetings.
Jan Muenzenmaier
Jan remains on the board as our link and administrative support to the City of Deerfield Beach. Through thick and thin, sickness and in health, she stands beside us and supports our efforts. She continues to keep us abreast of city government decisions and coordinates with the schools, social and educational groups of the city and sets the scheduling of tours of the museum with the local organizations.
